York is England's old second city. The county of Yorkshire is in the North-East of England
The Summer 2005 course Stabbing in the Dark was held there in August. The weather was kind and the only real rain fell whilst we were on our journey to Durham on the final Monday.
Places visited on the course, in addition to York, included:
Bede's World in Jarrow, St Paul's Church in Jarrow, and Durham Catherdral.
I also visited the National Railway Museum on arrival in York on the first Monday and spent some time on the banks of the River Ouse.
On the next day (an extra day before the course started on the Wednesday) I visited Castle Howard and the picturesque town of Helmsley.
On my way home from the course I visited the ancient church of St John the Baptist, Kirk Hammerton; and Bolton Abbey station on the Embsay Steam Railway.
