Summer Academy (SA) was an umbrella organisation based at University of Kent that co-ordinated the provision of study holidays at universities in Great Britain and Ireland. Alas it closed after summer 2003. I had been on SA courses for the previous five years.
This summer I returned to Durham for a course called Northumbria: Ancient, Modern and Post-Modern. Pages for that are being added to the new website over the next couple of months.
Last summer I returned to York again on a course called: Stabbing in the Dark. (Illuminating the Dark Ages)
In 2004 I returned to York on their replacement summer school courses. Mine was called: Medieval Art in York.
In summer 2003 I returned to Durham for a week studying From Lindisfarne to Bede: Early Christian Northumbria. This was the first week that I had used a digital camera exclusively.
In summer 2002 I spent a week at Sheffield University studying the Stately Homes of Derbyshire.
In summer 2001 I spent a week at York University studing York: Romans to Normans.
Summer 1999 and 2000 I spent a week at Durham University studying the Castles and Strongholds of Northumbria and Aristocrats and Arrivistes respectively.
For some possible alternatives to SA see Summer Studies.
